After watching Inception again very carefully, I found out that Cobb has another totem or a way of telling if he’s in a dream or not - his wedding ring.

In the scene where Ariadne enters Cobb’s dream, Ariadne asks Cobb, “why is it so important to dream?” Cobb answers her, “In my dreams, we’re still together.” That is why when Cobb is dreaming, he has his wedding ring on. [If his wife was still alive, his wedding ring would be his totem. But since his wife is already dead, Cobb is now the only person who knows the weight of his wife’s totem (top). He can now use it as his own totem and that’s what he uses throughout the whole movie.]

Wedding ring on = dream. No ring = reality. Instead of using his wife’s totem, he can just look at his left ring finger to check if he has his wedding ring on or not.

As for the ending, movie ends with Cobb’s totem still spinning. How do we know if Cobb is still dreaming? After a lot of pause-and-plays, there’s only one scene where his left hand can be clearly seen and that’s when he hands over his passport to the airport security personnel.

So there’s the proof that Cobb is not dreaming when the movie ended, aside from the fact that you can clearly hear that the top is about to topple in the end, and also his daughters turned around when their names were called (because Cobb stated that his daughters won’t turn around when he calls them in his dreams).
